The Vineyards
The Corb River Valley has always been a land of vineyards and good wine. All the terrains are very calcareous and clayey at the bottom of the valley and stony in the upper parts.
The climate is the inland Mediterranean, with a rainfall slightly above 400 mm, with very cold winters and hot and dry summers, but nuanced by the daily presence of a southeast breeze (marinade) that softens the temperature and increases the levels of humidity. This fact, together with the height, provides a long and slow maturation period that helps maintain the aromas in the wines and that they have a high quality.
The property we have in this territory is 32 hectares of vineyards of which only 20% of its harvest is destined for the production of Celler Analec wines and sparkling wines. The rest is sold in other wineries.
We have old and young vines, which are being renewed since the agricultural exploitation predates the viticulture. They are located in the terms of Nalec, Rocafort de Vallbona and Verdú, with heights ranging from 450 meters from the bottom of the Corb River Valley to 550 meters from La Romiguera.
The varieties of our vineyards are: Syrah, Macabeo, Parellada, Trepat, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Muscat, Chardonnay and red Garnacha.
The Denomination of Origin Costers del Segre covers land in the regions of Pallars Jussà, Pallars Sobirà, Segrià, Urgell, Garrigues, Noguera and La Segarra, organized into seven sub-areas, one of which is the Vall del Corb sub-area.
The denomination’s area is diverse with changed geological and climatic characteristics. The connecting link is the middle basin of the Segre river, between the Pyrenees and the Ebro, and the interior and dry climate, far from the maritime influence and marked by high insolation, low rainfall and persistent humidity in winter mists.
The vines are between 200 and 400 m. altitude. The soil is calcareous covered with sand, with great uniformity throughout the denomination.
